Conor's Story
Conor is a biorisk consultant – he provides forecasting, analysis, risk management, and business continuity services to organisations worldwide, with a specific focus on biological threats.
His clients span the governmental, NGO, and commercial sectors. He also provides bespoke individual services for high net-worth individuals.
After graduating with a BA in Philosophy and a MA in Medical and Business Ethics, Conor began his career in 1995 as a researcher for a global epidemiological project monitoring trends in cardiovascular health worldwide. This research ignited a life-long interest in the underlying causes of not only cardiovascular illness, but all chronic diseases. Ironically, Conor himself was diagnosed with a serious health condition in 2001, which took him six years to recover from. This was a seminal experience in Conor’s life and re-emphasised his ongoing commitment to live in the healthiest way possible.
Following his 2008 graduation with a second MA in Security Studies, Conor began consulting on biological threats for the Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) defence community worldwide, with a particular focus on both Dual Use Research of Concern (DURC) and the concept of ‘crude weaponisation’ of biological agents by terrorist organisations. He travelled extensively during this period, working primarily in the Middle East and Central Europe.
Collaborating with a niche consultancy based in London and Dubai, Conor also analysed the effects of infectious diseases within the Syrian refugee population in Lebanon and Jordan.
In January 2020, Conor began working in the global energy and commodity trading sector, providing forecasting and analysis services for a number of major multinational companies. He also provided expert commentary to The Wall Street Journal, Argus Media, and Third Bridge during this period. In addition to forecasting services, Conor now provides research and analysis services to a number of companies in the novel diagnostics sector.
Conor’s background in philosophy and ethics informs all aspects of his personal and professional life and allows him to identify both problems and solutions overlooked by most. Running 30-40 kilometres per week, and a teetotaller since 2007, Conor is intensely invested in optimising his own health, and this fierce desire to protect human health has been the backbone of his entire career.
